Born and brought up in Kenya, Oliver spent much of his childhood on the East African coast and exploring the bush. On leaving school he set up a kite-surfing business with a friend, teaching and organizing trips along the coastline for three years. He also travelled extensively around East Africa and further afield to South East Asia, South Africa and Europe. In 2015, he shifted his career from the beach to the bush, studying business and professional guiding courses. He worked initially as a lodge manager in northern Kenya and the Mara, followed by four months at Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge in Rwanda. An experienced safari guide with an infectious love of wilderness and exploration, Oliver is also a talented photographer with the creative eye of his artist father. His images have featured in magazines and newspapers, including the New York Times.
